STRENGTHENING WOMEN'S RIGHTS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE CONTEXT OF CLIMATE CHANGE
Gender Hub Azerbaijan
The project “Empowering Women’s Rights and Opportunities in the Context of Climate Change” was implemented by Gender Hub Azerbaijan with support from the Agency for State Support to NGOs of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
It aims to raise awareness of the gendered impacts of climate change and strengthen the capacity of young professionals to promote women’s rights, equality, and climate justice. Through training, mentorship, and community outreach, the project empowered participants to take action for a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Strengthening Women’s Leadership for a Sustainable Future
The project set out to highlight how climate change affects women differently and how empowering women can lead to stronger, more resilient communities. Its goal was to help community members and young professionals better understand these gendered impacts and equip them with the skills to promote women’s rights, equality, and climate justice.
Through a mix of training, mentorship, and community work, participants learned not just about climate change, but also about leadership, teamwork, and the power of collective action.
The initiative brought together 60 participants from 10 regions of Azerbaijan, divided into two rounds of three-day trainings held in Baku. Each training created a safe and inspiring space for participants to learn, share, and reflect on how gender equality and environmental sustainability are deeply connected.
The sessions explored topics such as the effects of climate change on women, gender-based violence, early marriages, and women’s leadership in sustainable development. Using interactive and non-formal learning methods, participants built both knowledge and confidence while discovering new ways to advocate for equality and climate action in their communities.
After the trainings, participants took what they learned back to their own regions, organizing community awareness activities with continuous mentorship from Gender Hub Azerbaijan. This phase helped transform ideas into meaningful action and strengthened a growing network of young leaders dedicated to building a more inclusive and sustainable future.
To share their stories and voices more widely, Gender Hub Azerbaijan also produced a social campaign video that captures the energy, commitment, and reflections of the participants on climate justice and gender equality.

The project will conclude with a final panel discussion in December, where participants will present their initiatives, share their experiences, and connect with experts who are also working toward a fair and inclusive approach to climate action.
