For a Better World
The 'Empowering Young Women's Leadership and Careers in Renewable Energy' project focuses on empowering female students with key knowledge and skills, boosting women’s representation in the green sector, and dismantling deep-rooted gender stereotypes.
Empowerment Through Training
A three-day interactive training program was conducted for the selected participants, covering renewable energy, green technologies, energy efficiency, and the role of women in the energy sector. The training sessions were accompanied by group work, workshops, presentations, and expert-led discussions.
Study Visits
On February 2, a site visit was organized to the State Agency for Renewable Energy Sources, taking place immediately after the training sessions. Participants gained first-hand experience with the operation of solar and wind systems, as well as energy efficiency projects. Later, on March 10, a visit to Masdar was conducted, where the young participants acquired real-world experience in solar energy production and project management. As a result of these processes, participants gained both theoretical and practical knowledge in the fields of renewable energy and climate change mitigation. Aligned with the COP29 process and Azerbaijan's green energy transition goals, the project highlighted the crucial role of alternative energy sources in sustainable economic development. Participants also implemented educational initiatives on climate issues and alternative energy in their communities, thereby supporting the increase of women's activity and contribution to this field. During the final meeting held at the end of the project, participants shared their initiatives and achievements with stakeholders.
Mentorship Phase
During the Mentorship Phase, following the training, the 25 participants attended weekly sessions led by mentors. Each mentor was an experienced professional in the fields of energy, climate, and technology. Within the framework of the mentorship, participants formulated their individual development plans and developed initial ideas for their community initiatives.
Sustainability Activities and Initiatives
During the Sustainability Activities and Initiatives phase, drawing on the mentorship and educational visits, participants implemented small-scale initiatives within their communities. These activities increased the knowledge and interest of other students, families, and community members, creating a ripple effect that highlighted the vital role of women in the energy sector.
Closing Ceremony and Presentation Session
During the Closing Ceremony and Presentation Session, which marked the final stage of the project, students presented the initiatives and project ideas they had developed through the mentorship process to stakeholders, including university representatives, energy companies, government agencies, and the media. The meeting served as a dynamic platform for both networking and future collaborations.
